Resumen

Pocos cuestionarían el desafiante escenario de la educación superior, la investigación y la innovación internacionales (IHERI) o la creciente complejidad e interconectividad de las relaciones entre países. Sin embargo, paradójicamente, faltan investigaciones sobre la intersección de estos dos fenómenos en evolución. Este artículo pretende abordar este tema, proponiendo el concepto de diplomacia del conocimiento en lugar de poder blando para comprender el papel de IHERI en la construcción de relaciones basadas en la colaboración, la reciprocidad y la mutualidad de beneficios. Se propone y detalla una definición y un marco conceptual de la diplomacia del conocimiento. Se examinan tres iniciativas de IHERI (la Universidad Panafricana, la Universidad Jordana Alemana y RENKEI, una red de investigación entre universidades japonesas y británicas) para ilustrar cómo se pueden aplicar elementos y principios clave del marco de la diplomacia del conocimiento. El artículo finaliza cuestionando el futuro de la diplomacia del conocimiento y la necesidad de realizar más investigaciones.
