Abstract

This work presents a brief discussion on the use of virtual simulators as a didactic tool to assist in teaching-learning mathematics. The main objectives of this text ranged from the presentation and use of virtual simulators as a pedagogical resource to the verification of their effectiveness through classroom application. To fulfill the presented objectives, it was necessary to use bibliographical research and guiding documents from the Ministry of Education. The work in question has a qualitative and quantitative character, as it intends not only to bring results through the analysis of students' perceptions, but also to bring numbers that represent both student satisfaction and a verification of learning through questionnaires before and after the use of simulators. During the research it was found that half of the students had intense or moderate difficulty in the subject of functions, for this reason the application of simulators turned to this theme. Through the introduction of simulators in math classes, we realized that all students who were part of the sample showed a significant improvement in understanding the fundamental concepts of functions, which was not possible through the methodology commonly used by the teacher, thus the work was effective in presenting these new features and verifying their potential.
