This research aims to carry out a Structural Narrative Analysis on Oedipus Rex, by Sophocles. To accomplish this task, the tragedy play is investigated in terms of its applicability to the narrative theory of Aristotle's Poetics. Therefore, the scientific journey seeks to find how the object fits the definition of tragedy in the poetic arts through its structure and allocation of elements within it. To broaden the theoretical debate, and enrich the interpretations of Oedipus Rex, Hegel and Nietzsche's understandings of Poetics, Tragedy and Oedipus Rex are addressed, serving for all purposes as two conflicting and aggregating lines of thought. Throughout the text, while Aristotle's considerations and other specialists in Aristotelian Poetics discuss the canonical conceptions of the poetic arts, excerpts from Oedipus Rex will be added and contextualized as evidence of such considerations, while Hegelian and Nietzschean interpretations are raised for the purpose of comparison.
