COMPOSIÇÃO E RIQUEZA DE ESCORPIÕES (Chelicerata: aracnida) DE PAULO AFONSO – BAHIA, BRASIL

Apesar da alta diversidade, a fauna de aracnídeos ainda é poucoconhecida. No Brasil, a maioria das pesquisas está ligada à região Amazônica,
regiões Sul e Sudeste. Este estudo buscou avaliar as estimativas de abundância
e riqueza da comunidade de escorpiões no município de Paulo Afonso, Bahia,
As coletas foram realizadas de março a dezembro de 2008, no período diurno
e/ou noturno dos sábados, utilizando-se busca ativa (nove excursões) e
armadilhas de queda (pitfall) (nove excursões). Também foram realizadas duas
coletas manuais noturnas ocasionais. Foram capturados 32 exemplares de
escorpiões, distribuídos em cinco espécies e duas famílias: Buthidae (2) e
Bothriuridae (2), a última de maior abundância. Na família Buthidae, registrou-se
as espécies Ananteris balzanii Thorell, Rhopalurus rochai Borelli, Tityus
stigmurus Thorell. Na família Bothriuridae foram identificadas Bothriurus rochai
Mello-Leitão e Bothriurus asper Pocock. A. balzanii foi a que apresentou a maior
abundância relativa (71% ).
