Identification and Analysis of Factors Influencing Equity Crowdfunding in Startup Financing

Abstract

Financing ventures may become necessary when a company is in its early stages and needs to grow and establish itself in the market. In this context, Equity Crowdfunding (EC) is a funding modality that enables the general public to invest in startups aligned with their interests. Thus, the aim of this research is to analyze how specific influencing factors operate within EC, which is utilized to financially support startups. For this purpose, an exploratory qualitative study was conducted, and data analysis was carried out through interviews with involved stakeholders, namely investors, intermediaries, and entrepreneurs. This research identified the existence of environmental factors, factors associated with management and business, financial and performance-related factors, as well as operational factors that influence EC. Furthermore, it became evident that such factors can have a direct impact on the outcomes of campaigns aimed at raising financial resources for startups.
